Rob Miller, Viva Electric’s newest Market Leader in Wilmington, North Carolina is humble, down-to-earth and hard working. His wife describes him as an “old soul”, and you can see that is part of who he is. 

Rob believes in an old-fashioned way of doing things, where he’s no better than any person on his team, he’s not afraid to get his hands dirty and he’s willing to go the extra mile for his clients and his teammates on every call and every job. 

It was in 2005 that Rob entered into the electrical industry where he started from the ground up. He spent most of his early days in trenches, working on muddy excavators and learning from those around him. 

During this time of his life, he learned that college wasn’t for everyone and that there’s no shame in learning a trade and going into a blue-collar industry. 

“Figuring out what you want to do that young isn’t as important as trying different things,” he said. “I got lucky with electrical as I did enjoy it and it’s job security— you learn how to do a skill that many people don’t know how to do.”

As he began to grow in his career and get out of the trenches, literally and figuratively, he still never considered that he would ever own his own electrical company primarily because he did not want to sit behind a desk all day. 

But Viva Electric’s Market Leader program has changed Rob’s career path, and potentially his life.

Through its market leader program, Viva Electric is empowering tradesmen and women to own their own branch of the company and light up the lives of the people within their community. The market leader program is for electricians who want to do more than work with their hands and gives them the autonomy to run their own branch. “My whole life I’ve just shown up to work, so this is a new thing for me. This will change my family history. I will be able to retire one day, and I truly believe this will be the last company I ever work for,” he said.

“I want to show the guys that I’m not above doing anything that I am asking them to do. I haven’t done it all, but I’ve done enough to know that I’m not above digging.”
